FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Randolph College softball team took on Mary Washington on the road on Wednesday afternoon. The WildCats fell to the Eagles 0-10, 2-14 in their doubleheader game.
Game One
The Eagles got on the board early, scoring five runs in the opening inning. They then added five more runs in the second to close out the game.
Sammie Carroll and
Laura Herzig accounted for one hit apiece.
Rylee Humble got the start in the circle and tossed two innings.
Delaney Sipes came in as relief.
Game Two
A single up the middle from Humble got the WildCats on the board first as
Haili Gonzalez scored. However, the Eagles scored three runs to put them ahead, 3-1. From there, Mary Washington added three runs in the second, five runs in the third, and three in the fourth to open this game up, 14-1. The 'Cats had one more offensive push with a sacrifice fly from
Calla Christian to bring home Gonzalez.
Gonzalez went a perfect 3-for-3, and Humble went 2-3 with an RBI.
Rachel Arce and Carroll each recorded one hit. Christian recorded the WildCats' other RBI.
Austyn Moran started in the circle and had one strikeout. Sipes came in as relief.
The team is back home on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to face Lynchburg.
