LYNCHBURG, Va. - Randolph College softball dropped an ODAC doubleheader to undefeated Virginia Wesleyan, 30-0, 8-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Game One
Virginia Wesleyan wasted no time getting on the board, scoring four runs in the opening inning and never looking back. The Marlins added eight runs in the third, 10 in the fourth, and eight more in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory.
For Randolph,
Rylee Humble,
Chesney Shook, and
Laura Herzig each recorded a hit, accounting for the WildCats' three hits on the afternoon. Humble and Herzig also drew walks.
In the circle,
Austyn Moran got the start for Randolph, tossing 3.1 innings with one strikeout.
Delaney Sipes and
Savannah Cash followed her in relief.
Game Two
The Marlins struck early once again, plating three runs in the opening inning behind a pair of RBI hits and capitalizing on a wild pitch. The Marlins added five more runs in the third inning to extend their lead and secure the shutout victory.
The WildCats recorded four hits on the afternoon, led by
Rachel Arce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate.
Chesney Shook and
Edie Jennings also contributed with one hit apiece for the WildCats.

Rylee Humble tossed a complete game, working all five innings while striking out one.
The 'Cats are on the road to Mary Washington, Wednesday for a non-conference road game. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
