Softball Drops ODAC Road Doubleheader at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Randolph College softball team traveled to Shenandoah for an ODAC weekend doubleheader. The WildCats dropped their doubleheader to the Hornets, 2-10 and 0-10.

Game One

Addy Compton got the WildCats on the board with an RBI single to left field to bring home Rylee Humble and take an early 1-0 lead. The Hornets responded with a run scored at the bottom of the first to even the score.

In the fourth inning, the Hornets plated one run and doubled it with two runs in the fifth inning to lead 4-1. At the top of the sixth, Chesney Shook hit a sacrifice fly down the right field line to score Sammie Carroll to try and close the gap.

However, the Hornets opened the game with six runs in the sixth inning to call the game.

Compton and Shook were the two RBIs for the WildCats and Humble, Compton, and Calla Christian each had a hit.

In the circle, Austyn Moran started for the 'Cats and tossed 4.1 innings with one strikeout. Delaney Sipes came in as relief.

Game Two

Shenandoah opened the first inning quickly, bringing in six runs, to take a 6-0 lead. The WildCats could not make any offensive push as the Hornets scored twice in the second and one a piece in the third and fourth innings to extend their lead 10-0. Both teams were held scoreless in the fifth inning.

Humble got the start in the circle for Randolph and pitched two innings and Sipes came in and tossed two innings with one strikeout.

The WildCats return home on Tuesday to face No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
