GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph women's tennis team faced Guilford on Wednesday afternoon. The Quakers edged out the WildCats by the score of 4-3.
Randolph falls to 6-2 on the season and evens their ODAC record at 1-1.
The Quakers led 1-0 after doubles play. Rachel Combs (Benbrook, Texas/Homeschool) and Amy Rigg (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) paired up to defeat Ashley Belnap and Chandler Sizemore 6-4 at second doubles. Fleur Gaalman (Abcoude, Utrecht, Netherlands Haarlemmermeer Lyceum Dalton) and Sophia Cahue (Aurora, IL/Metea Valley HS) were edged out by Carolina Dirk and Erika Mendez 7-6 at first doubles.
Gaalman won her second singles match 6-4, 6-1 over Belnap. Cahue was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over McKenna Merritt at fourth singles. Rigg took down Amy Soto Salgado 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles.
The WildCats host Roanoke on Monday afternoon. Match time will be at 4:00 p.m.
