GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph men's tennis team faced Guilford in an ODAC match on Wednesday afternoon. The WildCats defeated the Quakers 7-0.
Randolph improves to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in ODAC play.
The WildCats won two of three doubles matches to lead 1-0. Jason Duval (Kingston, Jamaica) and Aksel Tinnes-Rimehaug (Oslo, Norway) were 6-0 winners at second doubles over the pair of Turner Johnson and George Hardie. Vincenzo Marchese and Tom Laflamme (Sunshine Coast, QLD Australia Sunshine Coast Grammar School) defeated Alex Brown and Christopher Kelley 6-0 at third doubles.
In the singles portion, Jacob Martin (Wadebridge Cornwall, Great Britain Callywith College) gutted out a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Andres Mercedes at first singles. Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Emmanuel Oye at second singles. Marchese won 6-1, 6-3 at third singles. Tinnes-Rimehaug won 6-0, 6-3 over Brown at fourth singles. Duval had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Johnson at fifth singles and Laflamme defeated Ahmaad Abdul-Haqq in straight sets at sixth singles.
Randolph travels to #20 Mary Washington on Saturday. Match time is at 3:00 p.m.
