Men’s Tennis Falls to #20 Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team faced #20 ranked Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon at the Hegmann Family Courts. The Eagles defeated the WildCats 6-1.

Randolph's overall record is now 8-2.

The WildCats fell behind 1-0 after doubles play. Jacob Martin (Wadebridge Cornwall, Great Britain Callywith College) and Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) lost a close match to Ryan Gipner and Jack Riordan at first doubles 7-5. Aksel Tinnes-Rimehaug (Oslo, Norway) and Jason Duval (Kingston, Jamaica) also had a close decision at third doubles as they fell 6-4 to the pair of Cooper Lehman and Eli Campbell.

Martin won Randolph's only point on the day as he faced Evan Fisher at first singles. Martin won the first set 6-1 with Fisher claiming the second set 6-4. Martin came back to win the third set 6-3. He improves to 10-1 on the season and has won his last eight singles matches.

The WildCats are home on Wednesday as they host #33 Washington and Lee in ODAC play. The match will start at 3:00 p.m.
