HILTON HEAD, S.C- The Randolph women's tennis team played its final game of Spring Break on Friday as the WildCats faced Mount Union. The 'Cats won the match 6-1.
Randolph led 1-0 after doubles play. Rachel Combs (Benbrook, Texas/Homeschool) and Amy Rigg (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) won 6-1 over Emily Bochert and Emily Peel at second doubles. Mikayla Smith (Pittsville, Md./Parkside HS) and Natalie Thompson (Rutherfordtown, N.C./Polk County HS) were 6-3 winners over Marianna Farmakidis and Chloe Bancroft at third doubles.
In the singles portion, Fleur Gaalman (Abcoude, Utrecht, Netherlands Haarlemmermeer Lyceum Dalton) was able to hold off Amelia Francisco 7-5, 7-5 at first singles. Combs took down Jillian Lohnes 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Sophia Cahue (Aurora, IL/Metea Valley HS) won her match against Peel 6-4, 6-0 at third singles. Smith was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at fourth singles over Borchert. Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) won her sixth singles match in three sets over Farmakidis 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4).
Randolph returns to ODAC play on Wednesday when the team travels to Guilford. Start time is at 3:00 p.m.
