LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Randolph WildCats women's volleyball team battled but came up short Saturday, falling 25-22, 25-10, 25-14 to the Battlin' Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan inside Giles Gymnasium.
The 'Cats pushed early and often in the opening set before the Marlins broke a late tie with three straight kills. Randolph had some promising moments in the second and third sets, but Virginia Wesleyan's defense stood tall to keep the WildCats in check.
Carly Schopp led the Randolph offense with 14 kills and added eight digs.

Destanie Ambers each recorded three blocks, while Ambers added nine kills to finish second on the team.
The WildCats look to rebound Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they host Mary Baldwin. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
