ASHLAND, Va.- The Randolph women's volleyball team opened ODAC play on Wednesday evening at Randolph-Macon. The Yellow Jackets won the match by the score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-11).
Randolph-Macon started the first set on a 7-2 run. Its lead grew to 15-6 and then 22-11. The WildCats rallied late as they closed to 23-18 thanks to a 7-1 run. The Jackets, however, were able to stave off the Randolph rally as they won the set 25-19.
Randolph-Macon led 6-3 in the second frame but Randolph closed its deficit and was able to tie the set up four times. The WildCats were to get to within a point of tying at 22-21 but Randolph-Macon scored the last three points of the match to win 25-21. In the third set, it was 5-3 early one until the Yellow Jackets rattled off a 10-0 run to break the set open on the way to a 25-11 win.
Jamie Galinis (Greenville, N.C./DH Conley) and
Kelsey Bowler (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) both had six kills each to lead the WildCats.
Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) was the leader in assists with 12 and digs with eight.
Randolph hosts its first matches of the season this Friday. The WildCats will play Clinton College on 3:00 pm and Pfieffer University at 5:00 p.m.
