LYNCHBURG, Va. - Former Randolph women's basketball player,
Teniyah Crenshaw-Patterson has signed a contract with a pro team to continue her playing career overseas with the University of East London in the United Kingdom. She will be leaving at the end of the month to start training Sept. 1.
In addition, Crenshaw-Patterson will be pursuing a master's degree in Sports and Exercise Physiology. The opportunity allows her to combine both athletic and academic goals while competing at the next level.
"Everybody's route may not be the same, but that doesn't mean you have to settle, and this is my route to get to where I want to be in the future," said Crenshaw-Patterson.
Crenshaw-Patterson joins Randolph women's basketball alum Tara Carleton Weaver in the pro leagues pursuit. Weaver tried out for the then Miami Sol WNBA team before graduating. After graduation, Weaver went on to earn her Master of Arts degree at the University of Leicester in Leicester, England while continuing to play basketball for the university team. She then pursued a professional basketball career with the London Amazons in the United Kingdom.
During her four years at Randolph, Crenshaw-Patterson capped a decorated career at Randolph as a two-time All-ODAC Second Team selection and the 2022, VaSID, D3Hoops Region 6, and ODAC Rookie of the Year honors. She made an immediate impact as a first-year, leading the team in scoring (12.8 ppg), and went on to play a key role in Randolph's historic 2023 ODAC quarterfinal win over Guilford with a season-high 18 points and 13 rebounds. A four-year starter, she closed her career in 2024-25 averaging career-highs in minutes, rebounds, and blocks.
While the opportunity comes through a pay-to-play system, it provides valuable professional experience for college athletes who have completed their NCAA eligibility but still have aspirations to compete.
Last year it was the first season for the University of East London Women's Division II National League team. The team finished third in their conference and made it all the way to the second round of the playoffs. For more information head to their website:
