No. 59 Men’s Tennis Shuts Out Roanoke 7-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The 59th ranked Randolph men's tennis team hosted Roanoke on Wednesday afternoon in an ODAC match. The WildCats defeated the Maroons 7-0.

With the win, Randolph improves to 8-4 overall and is 4-2 in conference play.

The WildCats won all three of their doubles matches to win the point. Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) and Jacob Martin (Wadebridge Cornwall, Great Britain/Callywith College) won easily over the pair of Federico Maccari and Julio Marques 6-0. Ondra Pelda (Prague, Czech Republic) and Vincenzo Marchese were 6-2 winners over Ian Michel and Emiliano Ramirez. Dev Mani (Bangalore, India St. Claret PU College) and Lukas Rathgeb (Koln, Germany/Apostelgymnasium) were 6-3 winners over Jacob Nichols and Jackson Wagner.

Mulner defeated Ramirez 6-1, 6-0 at first singles. Marchese won 6-1, 6-3 over Marques at third singles. Carlos Haupt (Weston, Fla./FLVS) was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at fourth singles against Hardt Lesko. Jason Duval (Kingston, Jamaica) held off Nichols 6-4, 7-6 at fifth singles. Rathgeb defeated JH Herrington 6-1, 6-0. Martin was the last one on the court as he went to a super tiebreaker in his match with Maccari. Martin won the first set 6-3 with Maccari claiming the second set 6-1. Martin came back to win the third set 6-2.

Randolph will face Lynchburg this Saturday. The match will be played at E.C. Glass High School and will start at 2:00 p.m.
