HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Randolph College men's track and field team delivered a standout performance this past weekend at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University, highlighted by new school records in the 4x400-meter relay and the 200-meter dash and multiple personal bests across the board.
In the 100 meters,
Jordan Edwards led the WildCats with a blazing time of 10.91 seconds, followed by Faithful Fulcher at 11.32 and
Gary Hunter at 11.97.
The 200-meter dash was a major highlight for Randolph, with
Eric West clocking an outstanding 21.50 seconds for a new school record.
Colby Lambert (22.47),
Christian Humes (22.64, personal best), and
Kendric Love (22.82) all turned in strong performances, while Fulcher (23.06),
Landon Petcher (23.90), and Hunter (24.58) rounded out a deep sprint crew.
In the 400 meters, West again shined, finishing 4th overall with a time of 48.57 seconds. Lambert (50.20), Love (50.14), and Humes (50.45) all finished closely together, with Petcher clocking 55.01.
Tanner Cochran ran 15:51.79 in the 5000m in a competitive field.
The WildCats' relay teams had a huge weekend. The 4x100 meter relay squad posted a solid 42.75 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Lambert, Love, Humes, West shattered the school record with a blazing time of 3:16.29 to finish fourth and move to 10th in the Division III.
In the 110-meter hurdles,
Mario Carter finished with a time of 29.33, and he also posted a solid mark of 13.63 meters in the triple jump.
In the field events,
Xavier White led the throwers with an 11.49m mark in the shot put and a 41.75m throw in the hammer.
Jayden Watkins had a strong showing in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters, and also recorded a 43.04m throw in the javelin.
The WildCats travel up the road to the University of Lynchburg on Friday and Saturday for the Dennis Craddock Invitational.
