DANVILLE, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team concluded ODAC regular season play on Saturday afternoon as the WildCats faced Averett. The Cougars defeated the 'Cats 6-1.
Randolph was behind 1-0 after doubles play. Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany/Otto Kuhne Schule) and Lize van Veen (Harderwijk, The Netherlands RSG Slingerbos) won their first doubles match over the pair of Siddhi Khandelwal and Jennika Jaison 7-5. Kersten and van Veen improve to 14-4 overall and undefeated in conference play at 8-0.
Kersten won her first singles match against Khandelwal 6-2, 6-3. Kersten's record is 17-4 overall and 8-1 in the ODAC.
Van Veen went to a super tiebreaker at second singles against Ravaka Ramanatoanina. Van Veen took the first set 7-6 but Ramantoanina took the second set 6-0 and the tiebreaker 1-0 (10-6).
The WildCats currently sit in sixth place in the ODAC. The official field for the ODAC Tournament will be announced on Sunday.
