DANVILLE, Va.- The #68 Randolph men's tennis team faced #42 Averett in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday. The Cougars won 7-0 over the WildCats.
The WildCats trailed 1-0 after doubles play but did win one match. Jacob Martin (Wadebridge Cornwall, Great Britain Callywith College) and Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) held off Prabjeet Chandhok and Jaeden Mukkaladyil 6-4 at first doubles. The third doubles match that was Jason Duval (Kingston, Jamaica) and Ondra Pelda (Prague, Czech Republic) against the duo of Florian Bert and Martin Guyot saw Bert and Guyot edge out Duval and Pelda 7-6.
In singles play, Mulner went to three sets at first singles against Satwik Kollepalli. Mulner won 6-4 at first singles while Kollepalli took the second set 7-5. Kollepalli won the super tiebreaker 1-0 (10-7). Vincenzo Marchese's third singles match against Bert also went to a super tiebreaker. Bert took the first set 6-3 and Marchese was a 6-2 winner in the second set. The super tiebreaker went to Bert 1-0 (10-7).
The WildCats have secured the sixth seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Randolph will face third seeded Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday at the Tigers' home court. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
