NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team took on #30 Christopher Newport in a non-conference match on Friday evening. The Captains won by the score of 7-0.
The WildCats' overall record now stands at 9-5. CNU improves to 11-7.
The Captains claimed all three doubles matches. At first doubles, Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany) and Lize van Veen (Harderwijk, The Netherlands RSG Slingerbos) took two points from the duo of #15 nationally ranked and #2 regionally ranked Raine Weis and Kylie Schaefer but fell by the score of 6-2.
The final singles match was at first singles between Kersten and Raine Weis. Weis took the first set 6-4 while Kersten came back to win the second set 7-5. The super tiebreaker went back and forth early on but Weis was able to edge out Kersten 10-7 to win the set and match.
Randolph returns to ODAC play tomorrow afternoon when it faces Virginia Wesleyan. The match begins at 12:00 p.m.
