Women's Lacrosse Roll Past Vixens

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Behind a dominant offensive performance and a lockdown defensive effort, the Randolph College women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the season in convincing fashion, defeating Sweet Briar 13-3 Tuesday evening at Meyer Field.

The WildCats (1-12, 1-8 ODAC) wasted no time getting on the board, netting four unanswered goals in the opening quarter and never looking back. Mackenzie Woodson led the charge with a season-high six goals, including a first-quarter hat trick and two more in the second to help Randolph take a 9-1 lead into halftime.

Jaci Moore added a strong offensive showing of her own with four goals and two assists, scoring in three of the four quarters and assisting on the game's final goal. Maddie Friel chipped in with two goals, and Hallie Darmante scored her career first in the second quarter.

The WildCats' passing game was on full display, with assists coming from Moore, Woodson, Henley Bagby (2), and Emille Taduran.

Defensively, Randolph held Sweet Briar (0-11, 0-8 ODAC) scoreless in both the first and fourth quarters. The Vixens scored all three of their goals in the third quarter.

The WildCats and the Vixens were even in shots taken with 22, but the 'Cats edged out the Vixens in ground balls 37-34. Mireya Norville was in the net for the game and made 11 saves on the day.
