ASHLAND, Va. - Behind timely hitting and a gritty performance from
Rylee Humble in the circle, the Randolph softball team picked up a thrilling 6-5 10-inning victory over Randolph-Macon in game one of Sunday's doubleheader at Carol Estes Park. Randolph-Macon used a four-run first inning and never looked back in game two, topping Randolph 10-2 in six innings to salvage the doubleheader split.
Randolph (6-26, 5-11 ODAC) rallied from a 2-0 deficit, scoring twice in the sixth inning after capitalizing on a Randolph-Macon error. The WildCats took their first lead in the eighth when Humble helped her own cause with an RBI double. Although the Yellow Jackets tied it in the bottom half, Randolph responded with two runs in the ninth off a
Chesney Shook RBI single and a clutch hit from
Laura Herzig to make it 5-3.
After Randolph-Macon (27-5, 12-2 ODAC) tied it again in the bottom of the ninth, Shook came through once more in the 10th with a go-ahead RBI single to give Randolph the 6-5 edge.

Addie Bowen and fielder's choice off the bat of
Desiree Scott, but it wasn't enough.
