Four Randolph Swimmers Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Four Randolph College swimming athletes were named to the 2024-2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team announced on Tuesday. It recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must hold a 3.50 or higher cumulative GPA and play in 90% or start 66% of their team's contest.

Aiden Tuck was the lone men's swimming athlete to represent the WildCats. Tuck is a junior studying Psychology. He had a personal best of 5:41.75 in the 500-yard freestyle at the ODAC Championships. He had season best times in the 50-yard free of 24.62, 100-yard free in 58.84, 50-yard back in 29.68, and 400-yard IM in 5:16.72. Tuck is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma and has been named to the ODAC All-Academic Team twice.

Kai Miller swam season bests in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.03) and the 50-yard freestyle (28.92) to place 35th and 38th overall at the ODAC Championships. Earlier in the season, Miller had season best times of 37.05 in the 50-yard back, 34.47 in the 50-yard fly, 1:19.48 in the 100-yard back, and 2:48.71 in the 200-yard back. Miller is a graduate student studying Comparative Philosophy. She is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma and has been named to the ODAC All-Academic Team three times.

Katie Scifres is a junior studying Psychology. This is Scifres second All-District selection. She swam season best times in the 1650-yard freestyle in 20:25.20 for 18th place, 500-yard freestyle in 6:03.84 for 24th, and 2:18.09 in the 200-yard freestyle for 23rd at the ODAC Championships.On campus, Scifres works as an Resident Assistant, a subject tutor, and a psychology department assistant. She is the President of Bridges (GSA), vice president of Psi Chi, a member of SAAC, and part of the Traditions Committee. Scifres has also been named to the ODAC All-Academic Team twice.

Katelyn Spuchesi a sophomore on the team studying Sports and Exercise Studies. Spuchesi had a record breaking season, breaking two school records. At the ODAC Championships, she broke the 400-yard IM in prelims and then broke it again in finals with a time of 4:53.59 to place 12th overall. Earlier in the season, at the Yellow Jacket Invite she was part of the 800-yard freestyle relay that broke the school record in 8:40.69. She had season best times of 56.57 in the 50-yard free, 2:02.53 in the 200-yard free, and 56.13 in the 100-yard free. Spuchesi was also named to the 2023-24 ODAC All-Academic Team.
