LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph women's track and field team put together a strong showing at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg, posting several season and personal bests across multiple events. Along with three school records for the 'Cats.
Jaidyn Turner led the WildCats in the 100m dash, advancing to the finals with a preliminary time of 12.70 before placing seventh in the final with a nearly identical time of 12.69 for seventh.
Tatianna Langston clocked a season-best 12.82 in the prelims, while
Jessica Taylor (13.11) and
Jennifer Moore (13.12) finished close behind.
Lily Whiting (13.35) and Imani Hardin (13.83) also competed in the competitive field.
Langston led the WildCats in the 200m, recording a season-best 26.27. Turner followed closely, running a personal-best 26.52. Whiting (28.46) and Hardin (29.14) rounded out the group with personal and season-best efforts, respectively.
Taylor highlighted the hurdles events with a personal-best and school record of 1:07.30 in the 400m hurdles, finishing fifth overall. Moore secured seventh place in 1:10.02, a season-best, while
Shaniya Owens posted a 1:19.87. Owens also competed in the 100m hurdles finishing in 19.60.
In the distance events,
Jenna Sass delivered an impressive fourth-place finish in the 10,000m, clocking in at 40:06.13 for school record.
Kiersten Alling had a standout performance in the throws, earning second place in the hammer throw with a personal-best and school record of 43.71m (143-05). She also placed sixth in the discus with a season-best 36.13m (118-06) and finished 17th in the shot put (9.97m).
Vivianna Gustin posted a personal-best 32.58m in the hammer throw and added a mark of 10.34m in the shot put to finish 15th. Nevaeh Foreman also threw a personal-best 32.56m in the hammer, finishing 17th, and added a 7.81m effort in the shot put.
The highlight of the day came in the 4x100m relay, where the quartet of Moore, Turner, Taylor, and Langston raced to a second-place finish in a season-best time of 49.51.
The 'Cats are back on the track at High Point University on Friday and Saturday.
