HILTON HEAD, S.C.- The Randolph women's tennis team played it second and final match in Hilton Head as they faced Greenville University on Thursday. The WildCats came back from a 1-0 deficit in doubles play to win four singles matches and defeated the Panthers 4-3.
Randolph evens its overall record at 3-3.
Despite trailing 1-0 in the doubles portion, the WildCats did have a win at first doubles. Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany/Otto Kuhn Schule) and Lize van Veen (Harderwijk, The Netherlands RSG Slingerbos) teamed up to defeat Emily Kowalke and Irlanda Oliver 6-2.
The WildCats won their singles matches at first, second, third, and four. Kersten easily handled Oliver, 6-1, 6-0 at #1. Fleur Gaalman (Abcoude, Utrecht, Netherlands Haarlemmermeer Lyceum Dalton) won 6-0, 7-6 against Addison Brannon at #2. Van Veen was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at #3. Emma Bauer (Munich, Germany) won her match over Callie Adkins 6-2, 6-3 at #4.
Randolph returns to ODAC play on Wednesday when they travel to Ferrum. Start time for the match is at 2:00 p.m.
