HILTON HEAD, S.C. The Randolph women's tennis team faced Lake Forest College on Wednesday in Hilton Head. The Foresters defeated the WildCats 5-2.
The WildCats trailed 1-0 after doubles play. Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany/Otto Kuhne Schule) and Lize van Veen (Harderwijk, The Netherlands RSG Slingerbos) defeated Sofia Strupovets and Lilli Dockal 6-4 at first doubles.
Kersten won 6-1, 6-4 over Strupovets at first singles. Emma Bauer (Munich, Germany) was able to defeat Kate Feist 6-0, 6-2 at third singles. Van Veen dropped a super tiebreaker to Margaret Bugnacki 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (11-9) at third singles as did Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) at sixth singles 5-7, 6-3, 0-1 (10-3).
Randolph will face Greenville on Thursday starting at 8:30 am.
