Women's Basketball Gets Senior Day Win, 63-55

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Randolph women's basketball team hosted the Quakers of Guilford College for senior day. The WildCats took home the win with a 63-55 win.

The game started off as an offensive battle between the two teams with the score being tied 6-all at 6:40 in the first quarter. A pair of free throws for Guilford put them up by two, but a layup from Simone Brown tied the game 8-8. However, Kylie Stark made back-to-back three pointers to push the lead to four. Guilford added a layup and a free throw to narrow the score to one, but a 6-0 run for the WildCats extended their lead to seven with 2:28 to go. The Quakers responded with a 4-0 run to close the gap, 20-18, with less than a minute left. After a free throw from Natija Pate, the quarter ended with WildCats leading 21-18.

The WildCats struck early with a jumper from Teniyah Crenshaw-Patterson to help open the lead by five. The Quakers went on a 6-0 run to only be down by one with 5:48 minutes left in the second quarter. A layup from Taniya Jackson put the WildCats back on top but the Quakers tied with a free throw, 25-all. It was a 9-0 run from the WildCats to close out the half, 34-25.

In the third quarter, the WildCats maintained control throughout. The Quakers came close to tying the game once again at 5:55, with the score at 38-36, but an 11-3 run in the latter part of the quarter gave the WildCats a 10-point lead going into the final quarter. The Quakers continued to battle back 10-6 run, 45-51, with 6:20 to go. Stark hit a layup to push the lead back to six but the Quakers on the other end responded with a layup of their own, 51-55. However, the last five minutes were for the WildCats. An 8-4 run for the 'Cats led to a 63-55 victory

Stark led the way with 27 points on 8-of-18 from the field, 3-6 from the three, and 8-9 from the line. She also had three steals and two assists. Crenshaw-Patterson had 17 points and nine rebounds. Brown grabbed 15 rebounds, just shy of her season-high which is 16. She added eight points and five steals. 

As a team, the WildCats shot 40.0% from the field, 18.8% from the behind-the-arc, and 57.1% at the line. Guilford grabbed 51 rebounds to Randolph's 36. 

The 'Cats are back on the road to crosstown rival, Lynchburg, on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
