Watkins Sets School Record at Bast-Cregger Invitational

SALEM, Va. - Men's track and field traveled to Roanoke College for the Bast-Cregger Invitational. It was a two-day meet with competition from across all divisions. On Friday, Randolph was represented by Jayden Watkins in the pole vault where he soared to a new indoor school record of 4.15 meters (13 '07".25). 

The 4x400 relay of Colby Lambert, Jordan Edwards, Kendric Love, and Eric West finished atop the competition running a time of 3:29.27.

For the sprints, in the 400-meter dash, Lambert led the pack finishing 4th in 50.84, just under his personal best. West followed in 50.92 in 5th place while Love ran a personal best of 51.48 for an 8th-place finish. Rounding out the WildCat field was Landon Petcher in 54.87 to finish 28th overall. Edwards finished 8th in the 200-meter dash in 22.77 followed by West in 10th in 22.86. Lambert ran a 22.98 to place 13th. Gary Hunter finished in 23.67 and Petcher finished in 24.66. 

On the field, Xavier White threw 11.97 meters (39 '03.25) and got 29th in the shot put and Julio Alvarenga hit a distance of 11.53 meters (37' 10). White also competed in the weight throw to finish 15th with a distance of 13.37m (43'10.50). Peyton Jackson was the lone WildCat in the triple jump, jumping 11.39 meters (37' 04.50) for a 21st-place overall finish. 

The 'Cats are back on the track next week, Feb 7, at the Liberty Open hosted by Liberty University.
