VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Randolph men's basketball team traveled to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday to take on the #25 ranked Marlins. VWU took a big lead in the first half and did not trail as they defeated the WildCats 96-72.
The Marlins got out ahead 7-0 less than three minutes into the first half.
Jordan Phillips-McLoyd's (Johnson City, Tenn./Science Hill) first basket of the game made it 7-2 at 17:13. The Marlins got out in front by 15 points but Randolph eventually cut it down to 10 points, 29-19, after a three-point basket by
Viktor Parson (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch). VWU would lead 61-37 at halftime.
Both teams scored 35 points in the second half. The WildCats got as close as 19 points, 65-46, in the second half. The Marlins' biggest lead was 32 points, 91-59, with 6:33 remaining in regulation.
Phillips-McLoyd led the WildCats with 20 points. Parson finished with 16 points.
Randolph heads across town to the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday. Game time from Turner Gym will be at 7:30 pm.
