VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Randolph women's basketball dropped its ODAC road contest, falling 67-48 to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at TowneBank Arena.
The Marlins controlled the tempo early, using trips to the free-throw line and second-chance points to build a 19-11 lead after the first quarter and extend the advantage to 37-24 by halftime.

Randolph showed fight in the third quarter, trimming the deficit behind strong interior play from
Talia Edmond and
Sophia Stevens. Edmond finished with 10 points and four assists, while Stevens added 10 points, three steals, and strong two-way play. The Wildcats were able to get the margin back within single digits briefly before Virginia Wesleyan responded with a late run to regain control heading into the fourth.

Amaya Thrash led Randolph's perimeter scoring, knocking down three three-pointers on her way to nine points off the bench.
Jaellen Hillery added eight points and five rebounds in 16 minutes of action, providing energy on both ends of the floor.

Randolph scored 30 points in the paint and outscored the Marlins 19-9 in bench points. Virginia Wesleyan's work on the glass gave them a 31-23 rebounding edge.

The WildCats will return to action as they will close six straight road games and host Methodist on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.
