Women’s Volleyball Falls to UMW in Regular Season Finale

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's volleyball team closed out the 2025 season on Saturday as the WildCats played a non-conference match at Mary Washington. The Eagles defeated the WildCats 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-22).

The WildCats scored the first point of the first set on a kill by Caroline York (Kill Devil Hills, N.C./First Flight HS) to lead 1-0. The Eagles responded with an 8-0 run to take an 8-1 lead. Randolph would answer back as it closed to within three points at 13-10. That would be as close as the 'Cats could get as the Eagles stayed out in front on their way to the 25-18 set win.

The Eagles got out to a 12-4 lead in the second set. The advantage grew to 19-7 UMW but the WildCats put up a 6-1 run to get the score to 20-13. Mary Washington withstood the Randolph rally as it claimed the frame 25-15.

In the third set, the WildCats led 9-3 and then increased their advantage to eight points, 14-6. The Eagles knocked the lead down but Randolph still was on top 17-11. UMW went on an 8-2 run to came back and take a 20-18 lead. A pair of Eagle attack errors tied the set at 20-20. Mary Washington used a 5-2 run in the end to break the stalemate and take the set 25-22.

Mackenzie Woodson (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) led Randolph with eight kills and six digs. Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) totaled 19 assists. Kelsey Bowler (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) and Brooklyn Finnerty (Lynchburg, Va./Timberlake) finished with five kills.

The match marked the final one for seniors Woodson, Turner, Finnerty, Abby Maldonado (High Point, N.C./Penn-Griffin SOTA), and Jamie Galinis (Greenville, N.C./DH Conley).

Randolph ends the season with a final record of 11-17.
