FARMVILLE, Va. - The Randolph College women's basketball team traveled over to Longwood University for an exhibition game Wednesday night. The WildCats took the loss to the Lancers 121-35.
In the opening quarter,
Lexanna Oge scored the first basket of the game with an assist from
Makiah Scott to lead 2-0. The Lancers soon followed with a quick layup to even the score. After multiple missed scoring opportunities, the Lancers added a layup to their score to lead 4-2. The Lancers went on an 8-5 run to extend its lead 12-7 with 6:10 to go.Â
The Lancers added to their score with a layup and a three-pointer, while
Pariz Minor added two-points for the WildCats off the assist from
Talia Edmond. Closing out the quarter, the Lancers went on a commanding 15-1 run to lead 32-10.
Sophia Stevens makes a jumper at 8:43 in the second quarter to narrow the gap 32-12. It was an 8-3 run for Longwood to widen its lead 40-15. Scott drained a three-pointer with 6:12 to go before half, assisted by
Maddie Pabon. It was another run for the Lancers going 10-2 pushing the deficit to 33 points, 50-17. Both teams closed the first half adding to their score, the Lancers led 58-23.
The third quarter belonged to the Lancers, outscoring the WildCats 34-4, to open this game 92-27. It was a similar game in the fourth quarter, with Longwood continuing its offensive pressure, outscoring Randolph 29-8 to seal the victory.
As a team, they shot 24.6% from the floor, 20.0% from behind-the-arc, and 33.3% from the line. Minor led the team with nine points followed by Pabon and Oge with seven points. Minor collected 12 rebounds while Oge had eight. Scott and Stevens each collected three steals.
The WildCats open its regular season on Friday at home against William Peace at 7 p.m.
