GREENSBORO, NC- The Randolph women's volleyball team played a pair of matches at Greensboro College on Saturday. The WildCats fell to Pfeiffer 3-1 and to the host Pride 3-0.
Against the Falcons in the first set, Randolph got out to a 5-2 lead. Pfieffer kept pace with the WildCats but would not take its first lead until 16-15. The WildCats took a 19-18 lead but the Falcons would go on a 7-3 run in the end to win 25-22.
Pfeiffer led 10-4 in the second set until the WildCats rallied to tie it up at 12-12. Randolph would go on to take a 21-19 lead. The 'Cats led 24-23 and shook off a potential Falcon comeback as they would go on to win 27-25.
Randolph got out to a 12-11 lead in the third set. The WildCats would go on to lead 23-21 and looked to take the set. The Falcons, however, would go on to win the last four points and take the frame 25-21. The Falcons got out to a 10-5 lead in the fourth set. Their lead grew to 15-6 and they would go on to win 25-12.
Jamie Galinis (Greenville, N.C./DH Conley) led with 12 kills. Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) finished with 36 assists to go with eight digs. Mackenzie Woodson (Norfolk,Va./Norfolk Collegiate) and Abby Maldonado (High Point, N.C./Penn-Griffin SOTA) both had 12 digs each. Kelsey Bowler (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) and McKayla Padgett (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) had 10 digs.
Against the Pride, the first set was close with the score standing at 12-10 in Greensboro's favor. The Pride held their lead throughout the set as they would go on to win 25-17.
In the second set, GC got out to an 11-5 lead. The WildCats were able to close to within two points at 15-13 but the Pride pulled ahead 19-13. Randolph came back to pull within two points at 21-19. Greensboro would go on to win the frame 25-20.
In the third set, the WildCats led 7-6 until Greensboro came back to go ahead 11-8. Randolph would tie the match at 16-16 but the Pride used a 5-0 run to lead 21-16. Greensboro would go on to win the set 25-19 to take the match.
Bowler led with 10 kills. Woodson added eight kills and nine digs. Turner finished with 20 assists, nine digs, and eight kills.
Randolph host Averett in ODAC play on Tuesday evening. The match starts at 6:30 p.m.
