The Randolph women's track and field team delivered strong performances across multiple events, with standout efforts in sprints, hurdles, throws, and indoor personal bests at The Burg Open on Friday. Sophomore
Jessica Taylor led the way, capturing first place in the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 1:00.97 a personal best indoors, a school record, and meet record. She also placed seventh in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 8.20 and finished sixth in the 200-meter dash at 26.59 for a personal best indoors.
In the distance events, senior
Jenna Sass debuted in the mile run, placing 13th with a time of 5:54.27, followed by first-year
Ryleigh Frayser in 14th at 6:04.63 for personal best. Frayser also competed in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:43.92. First-year
Shaniya Owens showcased her potential in the 60-meter hurdles, where she placed 11th with a time of 11.48 for a personal best, and in the 400-meter dash, finishing eighth at 1:08.85, also a personal best.
The WildCats shone in the field events, with sophomore
Kiersten Alling excelling in the throws. She placed fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 13.35m (44' 0½") and secured third in the shot put with a throw of 10.82m (35' 5¾").
Kendra Smith finished 10th in the long jump with a leap of 4.56m (14' 11½"), while senior
Vivianna Gustin in the weight throw had a mark of 7.89m (25' 10½") and placed eighth in the shot put with a distance of 8.93m (29' 3½").
The 'Cats head over to Salem, Va. for the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Jan. 17-18.
