LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College Men's Track and Field team delivered strong performances across various events at The Burg Open on Friday, highlighted by standout finishes and promising marks.
In the 60-meter hurdles finals, junior
Mario Carter showcased his speed and precision, securing a second-place finish with a time of 8.86 seconds for a new personal best. Senior
Cole Torres followed in fifth place, clocking 9.21 seconds. The 400-meter dash finals saw sophomore
Christian Humes excel, finishing sixth at 51.69 seconds for an indoor personal best. Senior
Colby Lambert placed seventh at 53.14 seconds.
In the 60-meter dash,
Azavion Childress clocked a time of 7.66 for a personal best.
Sophomore
Jordan Edwards stood out in the 200-meter dash finals, claiming fifth place with an impressive time of 22.46 seconds.
Gary Hunter had an indoor personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.60. In the field events, sophomore
Xavier Calloway reached 6.08m (19' 11¼") to place 10th in the long jump and triple jump at 12.02m (39'5") for a personal best, while Carter added a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.75m (41' 9¾"). Sophomore
Peyton Jackson cleared 3.50m (11' 5¾") in the pole vault, earning eighth place.
In the throws, first-years
Xavier White and
Julio Alvarenga made strides in the weight throw, with White achieving 10.23m (33' 7½") and Alvarenga closely behind with a personal best at 10.25m (33' 6¾"). White also led the WildCats in the shot put, finishing 14th with a throw of 11.48m (37' 7¾".)
The WildCats' distance squad competed in the mile run, where senior
Tyler Brubaker clocked 5:08.85. Senior
Jake Arnold represented Randolph in the 3000-meter run, completing the race in 10:50.56.
The 'Cats head over to Salem, Va. for the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Jan. 17-18.
