LYNCHBURG, Va- The Randolph women's volleyball team started its 2024 season on Saturday as the WildCats faced St. Mary's College of Maryland and Regent. Randolph defeated the Seahawks 3-1 and came back from a 2-0 deficit to knock off the Royals 3-2.
Against St. Mary's, Jill Warter led with 13 kills to go with six digs. Tahani Villines added 10 kills and led in digs with 21. Kailee Turner had a double-double effort of 13 digs and a team-leading 23 assists. Mackenzie Woodson totaled 16 digs and McKayla Padgett 12 digs.
Warter also led the 'Cats in kills against Regent with 15 to go with seven digs. Brooke Murdock finished with 14 kills, eight digs, and four solo blocks. Villines and Brooklyn Finnerty both had 11 kills each. Villines also had a career-high 32 digs. Woodson finished with 23 digs. Padgett chipped in 20 digs. Turner had 12 digs and a team-best 40 assists.
Randolph will next participate in the Maroon Classic this coming weekend at Roanoke College. The WildCats will first play Salem College 2:00 pm and then Methodist at 6:00 pm on Friday.
