Men’s Tennis Defeats Roanoke; Sets Singles Season Wins Record

SALEM, Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team traveled to Roanoke to face the Maroons on Saturday afternoon. The WildCats had little trouble with the Maroons as they won by the score of 8-1.

Randolph improves its overall record to 11-7 and sets a new single season record for wins. The WildCats even their ODAC record at 4-4 and with the victory are now assured of their first ODAC Tournament berth since 2017.

The WildCats claimed all three doubles matches. The pair of Jacob Martin and Ondra Pelda (Prague Czech Republic) won 8-5 over Zach Kriebel and Federico Maccari. For Martin, it is his 13th doubles win of the season and breaks the previous record of 12 last done by JT von Seggern and Trevor Johnson in the 2016-17 season. Second and Third doubles were also won by 8-5 scores.

In the singles portion, Martin was a 6-0, 6-4 winner at first singles over Kriebel. Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) won 6-1, 6-1 over Maccadri. Pelda held off Julio Marquee 7-6, 6-2. Dev Mani (Bangalore India/St. Claret PU College) defeated Hardt Lesko 6-2, 6-4 at fourth singles. Jason Duval won 6-2, 6-3 at fifth singles.

The men's team returns home to host the University of Lynchburg in their regular season home finale on Wednesday. The match begins at 4:00 p.m.
