LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team hosted Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon. It was a close match throughout the day as the Eagles edged out the WildCats 5-4.
Randolph's overall record drops to 7-9. The WildCats conference record is now 2-7.
The 'Cats took one doubles match. Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany) and Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) defeated the duo of Emma Nesselrodt and Jolexie Whetzel 8-6 at first doubles.
In the singles portion, Kersten cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Nesselrodt at first singles. Dickerson defeated Emily Wylie 6-3, 6-3 at second singles. Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) needed three sets against Whetzel. Mills won the first set 6-4 with Whetzel claiming the second set 6-4. Mills would win the third set 6-2. Molly McNair (New South Walkes, Australia/Figtree) lost in three sets to Emma Staton 3-6, 7-5, 0-6 at fifth singles.
Randolph is back home next Tuesday as it hosts Virginia Wesleyan. The match begins at 3:00 p.m.
