SWEET BRIAR, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team did not have to travel far as they faced Sweet Briar in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon. The Vixens won 6-3 over the WildCats.
Randolph's overall records drops to 7-8 and 2-6 in the ODAC. Sweet Briar improves to 15-1 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
The Vixens claimed all three doubles matches. Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany/Otto Kuhn Schule) and Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) faced Alex Guillarte and Ana Patino at first doubles. Kersten and Dickerson won four games but fell 8-4.
In singles play, Kersten knocked off Patino 6-2, 6-3 at first singles to raise her overall record to 15-0 and 7-0 in ODAC play. Gianna Cabrera (Portsmouth, Va.) easily defeated Molly Booth 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles. Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) held off Atty Bestwick in a super tiebreaker 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) at fourth singles.
Randolph hosts Bridgewater on Wednesday. The match begins at 3:00 p.m.
