MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The Randolph softball team faced #20 Pfieffer on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader. The Falcons claimed both games winning Game 1 3-1 and the second game 11-0 in six innings.
In the first game, the Falcons struck first in the third inning as Kenzi Lyall hit a solo home run to left centerfield off Randolph pitcher Emily Morris (Esmont, Va./Monticello), her first earned run surrendered this season. Jenna McDermott (Townsend, Del./Middletown HS) tied the game at 1-1 with a solo homer to centerfield in the sixth inning. Pfeiffer scored a pair of runs in its half of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead.
Morris pitched five innings in the circle for the WildCats. She allowed one run on six hits, walking three and striking out one batter. Delaney Sipes (Arrington, Va./Amherst County HS) came in relief for 2/3 of an inning. She gave up two earned runs on two hits and walked one. Paige Scruggs (Cowpens, S.C./Chesnee) pitched 1/3 of an inning.
Lacey Lucado (Buchanan, Va./James River) was 1-for-2 at the plate with a double. McDermott went 1-for-3 with her homerun, a run scored and a RBI. Â
Randolph had four hits in the second game. McDermott was 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Kylie Stark (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) and Austyn Moran (Troutville, Va./James River HS) both had one hit each.
The WildCats travel to William Peace tomorrow for a pair of games. Randolph will play SUNY New Paltz at 1:00 pm followed by the host Pacers at 3:00 p.m.
