Men’s Tennis Shuts Out William Peace 9-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team hosted William Peace on Saturday morning. The WildCats won the match 9-0.

At first doubles, Jacob Martin and Ondra Pelda (Prague, Czech Republic) won 8-1 over the pair of Sam Jones and Ben Fleming. Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) and Dev Mani (Bangladore, India) won their second doubles match by the same score over Angel Araiza and Patrick Buckler.

In the singles portion of the match, Martin needed a super tiebreaker to defeat Jones and won 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3). Mulner won his second singles match against Fleming 6-1, 6-0. Pelda was victorious at third singles 6-4, 6-0. Jason Duval defeated Buckler 6-1, 6-4 at fourth singles. Mani won in straight sets over Ivan Ponce 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.

"Very happy with the men's match today, never easy to win a match 9-0," said head coach Sam Martinez. "The energy across the board was good throughout and now we're starting to build some positive momentum heading in Spring Break. A 4-1 start to the year feels great. Special shoutout to Jacob for the big comeback and clutch performance in the super tiebreak."

The WildCats are idle until March 4 when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. Randolph will face Mount Union at 4:00 p.m.
