WINCHESTER, Va. - The Women's Track and Field team competed at the Shenandoah Holiday Kickoff Open, hosted by Shenandoah University, and showcased strong performances. The WildCats earned 24 points, finishing eighth in the team standings, and accumulated 10 top-10 finishes.
Results:
- Jessica Taylor led the way with a stellar performance in the 400-meter dash, taking first place with a time of 1:02.30 - which is first in the ODAC this season. She also placed seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:38.65 (sixth in the ODAC) and ran 10.41 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims to place 12th.
- Kendra Smith advanced to the finals in the 60-meter dash, finishing seventh with a time of 8.22 seconds (fifth in the ODAC). She also placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 4.83 meters (fifth in the ODAC) and sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 9.74 meters (third in the ODAC).
- Tatianna Langston narrowly missed advancing to the finals in the 60-meter dash, finishing 10th with a time of 8.27 seconds (sixth in the ODAC). Langston also claimed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.69 seconds and is fifth in the ODAC to start the season.
- Jaidyn Turner finished fourteenth in the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 8.31 seconds for a new personal best and is ninth in the ODAC. She also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing 12th with a time of 27.90 seconds (eighth in the ODAC)
- Shaniya Owens participated in the 400-meter dash, finishing 20th with a time of 1:10.36, and placed 16th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.93 seconds.
- Lily Whiting competed in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. She finished 23rd in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.85 seconds and placed 27th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.78 seconds.
- Ryleigh Frayser ran a determined race in the mile, finishing 12th with a time of 6:10.19.
- Jenna Sass delivered a solid performance in the 3000-meter run, finishing ninth with a time of 11:55.81 (sixth in the ODAC).
- Kiersten Alling shone in the shot put, earning sixth place with a throw of 10.86 meters (fifth in the ODAC). She also finished 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.79 meters and is 10th in the ODAC this season.
- Vivianna Gustin placed 15th in the shot put with a throw of 9.30 meters and recorded a weight throw of 9.52 meters to finish 23rd.
- Neveah Foreman tied for 17th in the weight throw with a distance of 10.16 meters for a personal best and finished 26th in the shot put with a throw of 7.18 meters.
The 'Cats are back in action after the holiday break when they compete at The Burg Open, hosted by the University of Lynchburg, on Jan. 10.
