WINCHESTER, Va. - The Men's Track and Field team had a strong showing at the Shenandoah Holiday Kickoff Open, held at Shenandoah University. The WildCats accumulated 65 points to finish fifth in the team standings, showcasing standout performances across both track and field events with 15 top-10 finishes and several personal bests (PB).
Results:
- Jordan Edwards excelled in the 200-meter dash, securing fifth place with a time of 22.88 seconds, which is the second fastest time in the ODAC this season. He also narrowly missed advancing to the finals in the 60-meter dash, placing 10th in the preliminaries with a time of 7.13 seconds which is a new personal best (PB) and eighth in the ODAC conference.
- Kendric Love made a significant impact in his debut collegiate meet. He finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.93 seconds - which in third in the conference - and placed 17th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.95 seconds. He also finished 36th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.50.
- Christian Humes finished sixth in the 400-meter dash, clocking 52.23 seconds - which is fifth in the ODAC. He also competed in the 60-meter dash, finishing 31st with a time of 7.41 seconds.
- Colby Lambert placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.90 seconds and sits sixth in the ODAC. He was 14th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.57 seconds - which is ninth in the ODAC. He also ran in the 60-meter dash prelims and finished with a time of 7.33 seconds (PB) to place 26th.
- Xavier Calloway had a productive day. He finished 17th in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.22 for a PB. In the jumps, he placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.15 meters (seventh in the ODAC) and seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 11.82 meters for a new PB and eighth place standing in the ODAC.
- Gary Hunter recorded a time of 7.19 seconds in the 60-meter dash preliminaries to finish 14th and placed 20th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.13 seconds.
- Azavion Childress finished 43rd in the 60-meter dash for a time of 7.67 and placed 34th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.23.
- Landon Petcher placed 17th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.81 seconds and 24th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.51 seconds.
- Cole Torres advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing sixth with a time of 9.25 seconds.
- Tanner Cochran shone in the 3000-meter run, finishing third with a time of 9:18.82 and sits sixth in the ODAC.
- Tyler Brubaker also competed in the 3000-meter run, finishing 12th with a personal best of 10:07.69.
- The men's 4x400-meter relay team, made up of Lambert, Torres, Humes, and Love, finished fourth with a time of 3:32.50, contributing valuable points to the team's total. This time is also ranked 34th nationally in Division III and third in the ODAC this season.
- Mario Carter delivered a strong performance in the triple jump, placing second with a leap of 13.07 meters and is fourth in the conference.
- Jayden Watkins excelled in the shot put, finishing second with a throw of 12.77 meters and has the second best mark in the ODAC this season.
- Peyton Jackson finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.50 meters and is third in the ODAC.
- Xavier White earned fourth place in the weight throw with a mark of 13.26 meters (fourth in the ODAC) and third in the shot put with a throw of 12.72 meters (fourth in the ODAC).
- Julio Alvarenga placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 11.57 meters (seventh in the ODAC) and 18th in the weight throw with a mark of 9.51 meters.
- Henry Harlow recorded throws of 7.51 meters in the shot put for 25th and 8.93 meters in the weight throw for 21st.
The 'Cats are back in action after the holiday break when they compete at The Burg Open, hosted by the University of Lynchburg, on Jan. 10.
