"A good team win, tonight! I thought our player and ball movement was exceptional tonight and it showed with 18 assists," said Randolph head coach Steve Lanpher. "We were able to jump on them and force some early turnovers which allowed us to get out and run in transition. Our depth was a benefit as we really wore Salem down especially in that 2nd quarter."
Maddie Pabon contributed a stellar effort off the bench, scoring a career-high 19 points, including five three-pointers.
Kylie Stark tallied 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, adding four rebounds and five assists.
Teniyah Crenshaw-Patterson made a strong impact in the post, recording 12 points, eight rebounds, and five steals, providing a solid presence on both ends of the court.
"
Maddie Pabon was excellent off the bench scoring 19 and also co-leading us with eight rebounds," said Lanpher. Kylie played her great all around game with 16 points, five assists, three steals and four rebounds."
Randolph's defense was relentless, forcing 31 turnovers and capitalizing with 30 points off Salem's errors. The WildCats also controlled the boards, grabbing 45 rebounds to Salem's 26, and outscoring Salem 34-26 in the paint. "I thought Teniyah made great decisions with the ball, scoring and passing the ball to open shooters and co-leading us in rebounds with eight," said Lanpher.
Salem's Cree Bass had a strong showing, scoring 16 points and pulling down nine rebounds, while Nykerah Engle added 11 points. However, Randolph's depth proved too much, with the WildCats' bench contributing 37 points.
With this win, the WildCats advance to 2-0 on the season. "Defensively we've got to continue to improve and have a great early test versus Southern Virginia on Saturday," said Lanpher.
