LYNCHBURG, Va. - Women's Soccer drops their first game of the season to ODAC opponent, Eastern Mennonite 0-2. The game saw both teams fighting hard for control but EMU capitalized and Randolph could not break through the Royals' backline.
Esme Cardoso-Rodriguez scored the first goal for the Royals in the 19th minute. The WildCats created several chances to level the score recording nine shots in the first half. Randolph held off the Royals to one goal until the end of the half.Â
Randolph fought hard in the second half, taking 10 shots to EMU's two shots. However, the Royals added an insurance goal late from Cardoso-Rodriquez in the second half to seal the game.
Senior
Sterlyn Woodward led the team with five shots, one on goal. Sophomore
Madison Booker recorded four shots, three on target. However, it was no challenge for Royals' goalkeeper Aja Laun who had nine saves on the night and that EMU's defense stood strong against the WildCats.
The 'Cats are on the road Saturday, Oct. 5 when the team heads to Sweet Briar College for a noon match-up.
