FERRUM, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team had a midweek tilt with Ferrum on Wednesday afternoon. It was all WildCats on the day as they would shut out the Panthers 9-0.
Randolph' s overall record improves to 6-7 and 2-5 in the ODAC.
Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venezuela/Instituto de Education Activa IDEA) and
Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) paired up and defeated Tennessee Phillips and Emma Loughrey 8-1 at first doubles.
Noura Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V./George Washington) and
Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) shut out Morgan Hundley and Gabby Mendoza 8-0 at third doubles. Second doubles was close but
Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) and
Harper Whetzel (Grottoes, Va./Harrisonburg) were able to defeat the duo of Emily Mahood and Hannah Huffman 8-5.
Santos won by default in her first singles match as she won the first set 6-0 and was ahead 5-0 in the second set. Dickerson and Whetzel both won their singles matches 6-1, 6-0. Fink was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Mahood at fourth singles. Elkhansa defeated Huffman 6-3, 6-0. Bell did not drop a game in her sixth singles match with Mendoza 6-0, 6-0.
Randolph hosts Sweet Briar on Wednesday afternoon. The match starts at 4:00 p.m.
