LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team hosted Shenandoah in an ODAC match on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets won 8-1.
The WildCats got their lone win at second doubles.
Harper Whetzel (Grottoes, Va./Harrisonburg) and
Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) were able to defeat the duo of Allison Cherwien and Jada Lewis 8-6.
Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venezuela Instituto de Education Activa IDEA) went three sets in her first singles match against Jahveesha Combs. Santos won the first set 6-3 but Combs came back to take the next two sets 6-3. Whetzel also went three sets against Cherwien at third singles. Cherwien won the first set 6-4 and Whetzel took the second one 6-3. Cherwien held off Whetzel 6-4 in the third set.
Dickerson battled against Kelly Hudak in their second singles match. Hudak won 6-4, 6-3.
Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) had nearly identical results in her fifth singles match against Jada Lewis with Lewis winning 6-3, 6-4.
The WildCats travel to Ferrum on Wednesday. The match begins at 4:00 p.m.
