VIRGINIA BEACH, VA.- The Randolph and Wabash men's lacrosse teams played a neutral site game at Cape Henry High School in Virginia Beach on Wednesday afternoon. The Little Giants defeated the WildCats 9-3.
Wabash scored the game's first goal with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. They would add a second score with 1:53 remaining in the quarter. The WildCats nearly got on the scoreboard with time winding down but
Leyton Brightly's (Spotsylvania, Va./James Monroe) shot hit the post.
Wabash scored with 12 minutes left in the second quarter to go on top 3-0. With 10:14 showing on the game clock, a penalty on the Little Giants gave the WildCats a man-up opportunity. Randolph would take advantage as
Chase Callan (Fredericksburg, Va.) scored to make it 3-1. Wabash answered 26 seconds later to put the score at 4-1. The Little Giants would go on to lead 5-1 at halftime.
Randolph closed to within three goals with just under six minutes to play in the third quarter. Wabash would lead 7-3 at the conclusion of the period and score twice more in the fourth quarter.
Wabash led in total shots 35-15 and groundballs 28-21.
Ethan Caldwell (Santa Fe, N.M./Santa Fe Prep School) netted two goals for the WildCats. Callan scored once.
Bruce Patterson (Fork Union, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) tallied a pair of assists.
Adam Ulffers (Greenville, N.C./J.H. Rose) stopped 14 shots in the cage for the 'Cats. He had five groundball pickups and did
Tom Stahler (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township).
Randolph travels to Oglethorpe this weekend. The WildCats and Stormy Petrels will play on Sunday starting in 12:00 p.m.
