ATLANTA, Ga.- The Randolph men's lacrosse team made its longest road trip of the season as the WildCats played Oglethorpe down in Georgia on Sunday. The Stormy Petrels defeated the WildCats by the score of 12-2.
It was Randolph that got on the board first as
Leyton Brightly (Spotsylvania, Va./James Monroe) scored on a solo shot at 13:31 of the first quarter. It was all Oglethorpe from there on as the Stormy Petrels tallied eight straight goals to lead 8-1 at the conclusion of the period.
Randolph was held off the board until the fourth quarter when
Zach Miller scored his first goal of the season at 10:41.
Oglethorpe led in total shots 37-25 and in shots on goal 20-15. The Stormy Petrels had a slight edge in groundballs 36-33.
Chase Callan (Fredericksburg, Va.),
Tom Stahler (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township), and
Nick Pietro (Spotsylvania, Va./Massaponax) all collected four groundballs each. Pietro led in caused turnovers with four.
Colin Overman (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale HS) had eight saves in the cage.
Randolph hosts the University of Hartford on Wednesday afternoon. Game time from WildCat Stadium will be at 4:00 p.m.
