LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team hosted William Peace on Saturday at a sunny but windy Wildcat Stadium. The WildCats controlled the game from the onset as they went on to win 16-2.
Randolph's overall record improves to 3-1. The Pacers fall to 0-2.
Four WildCats got into the scoring column on the day. Sophia Cirone (Stuart, Fla./South Fork HS) led the team with five goals and added two assists for a seven-pointe outing. She also won five draws, picked up four groundballs, and caused three turnovers. Logan Warren (Chesterfield, Va./Steward School) scored four times, caused four turnovers, and scooped up three groundballs. Olivia Richards (Limestone, Tenn./Pinecrest) tallied four goals and assisted on a fifth. She won five draw controls and caused three turnovers. Beverly Alcock (Purcellville, Va.) netted a hat trick, assisted on two goals, won five draw controls, picked up four groundballs and caused three turnovers.
Yanessa Cabrera (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) assisted on a goal, picked up three groundballs, caused one turnover, and won a draw control. Mackenzie Woodson (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) also had an assist. Marcela Izquierdo-Poza (Madrid Spain/IES Julio Verne) caused three turnovers.
Taylor Batty (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) had one save in the cage and three groundballs.
Randolph will host the University of Northwestern on Wednesday night. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.
