LYNCHBURG, Va- The Randolph women's tennis team hosted its first home match of the spring season on Friday as it faced William Peace. The WildCats won over the Pacers 8-1.
The WildCats won both of their doubles matches.
Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venezuela) and
Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) were 8-5 winners over Hayley McNair and Camryn Staraughn at first doubles.
Harper Whetzel (Grottoes, Va.) and
Gianna Cabrera (Portsmouth, Va.) won 8-2 over the pair of Mya Sampson and Abbie Papale.
In the singles portion of the match, Santos came back to defeat McNair in a super tiebreaker 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 at #1 singles. Dickerson also went to a super tiebreaker in her #2 singles match against Straughn but fell 5-7, 6-2, 3-10. Whetzel won at #3 6-1, 6-2 over Sampson.
Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Papale at #4.
Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va.) defeated Kaitlyn Bliss 6-0, 6-0.
Randolph will face Lynchburg in ODAC play next Friday.
