WildCats and Eagles Played to 1-1 Tie

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team hosted its final game of the season on Wednesday evening as the WildCats welcomed Bridgewater to WildCat Stadium. The WildCats took the first lead of the night early in the second half but the Eagles would later tie the game the up and that is where the score stood at the end as the team played to a 1-1 tie.

Both teams registered three shots each in the first half. Randolph had two shots on goal and Bridgewater one. It was scoreless at halftime.

It was just over four minutes into the second half when Randolph got on the board. Zach Nipper (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) sent a pass to Tucker Leverone (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) who was able to tip the shot into the back of the net and in to put the 'Cats ahead 1-0.

Bridgewater continued to pressure as the game went on. Randolph keeper Carter Kelly (Carrollton, Va./Smithfield) kept the Eagles at bay. Kelly came up with five saves while the Wildcat defense also kept a Bridgewater shot from going into the goal. BC finally got the goal it needed in the 81st minute as Cole Dunbar assisted Riley Queen on the score.

Randolph got off a pair of shots on frame in the final six and a half minutes but both were thwarted by Eagle goalkeeper Charles Schweinefuss.

Bridgewater finished with a 14-11 lead in total shots and 9-8 in shots on goal. Corner kicks were in the Eagles' favor 5-2

Kelly had a season-high seven saves on the night for the WIldCats. Schweinefuss also had seven saves.

The WildCats conclude the season with a final record of 4-5-6 overall and a 2-3-5 mark in the ODAC.
