ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.- The Randolph volleyball team faced off against Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan. The WildCats fell to the Pride 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-14).
In the first set, the WildCats were within two points of tying the set at 9-7. The Pride began to push ahead as they got out in front 17-9. The deficit was too much for Randolph to overcome as it fell 25-13.
It was a tight set in the early going of the second frame with Randolph only trailing 8-6. A 15-2 Greensboro run, however, blew the set open as the Pride easily won 25-9.
The WIldCats were behind 5-4 in the third set but a 9-1 GC run gave it a 14-5 advantage. Despite the WildCats' effort to get back in, the Pride stayed out in front as it took the set 25-14.
Brooklyn Finnerty (Lynchburg, Va./Timberlake) registered five kills to lead the 'Cats. Izzy Allen (Williamsburg, Va./Peninsula Catholic) and Jayda Domenech (Virgnia Beach, Va./Kempsville) totaled nine assists and seven digs. Gracie Fulton (Staunton, Va./Riverheads) led in total digs with 13.
The scheduled match against the Battling Bishops was cancelled because of a an on-campus power outage.
Randolph is idle until next Saturday when it hosts a tri-match with Guilford and Mid-Atlantic Christian. The ODAC match against the Quakers will be at 12:00 p.m. The WildCats and Mustangs will play at 4:00 p.m.
