LEXINGTON, Va.- Looking to extend its record 14-game winning streak, the Randolph women's basketball team went on the road to Washington and Lee to face the Generals on Tuesday. It was all W&L on the evening as the WildCats fell 81-52.
The 'Cats record drops to 16-3 overall and 10-2 in ODAC play. The Generals improve to 13-5 overall and 10-1 in the conference.
The Generals jumped on the WildCats in the first quarter as they went ahead 23-7. Randolph was able to close its deficit to 12 points, 27-15, with 5:48 left in the second quarter. W&L would end the period on a 12-3 run to lead 39-18 at the break.
Washington and Lee pulled further ahead as it outscored Randolph 26-15 in the third quarter. The WildCats did lead the Generals 19-16 in the fourth quarter with the decision already in hand.
Kylie Stark (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) led the WildCats with 12 points. Jessica Jennings (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) added nine points. Teniyah Crenshaw-Patterson (Newport News. Va./Heritage) scored six points and pulled down six rebounds. Yanessa Cabrera (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) also finished with six rebounds and scored four points.
Randolph looks to regroup as it travels to Guilford on Saturday. Game time will be at 2:00 p.m.
