SALEM, VA.- The Randolph women's tennis team traveled to Roanoke for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match with the Maroons. Randolph won by the score of 5-4.
The win snaps an eight-match winless streak for Randolph. The WildCats improve to 5-12 overall and 3-6 in the ODAC. The Maroons fall to 7-11 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
The WildCats took one match in doubles play. Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) and Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) teamed up to defeat Simone Joi and Dana Meyer 8-2 on third doubles.
In the singles portion, Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venzuela) was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Lucy Collins at #1 singles. Bailey Livingston (Evington, Va.) went three sets against Julia Bassett and rallied after dropping the first set 6-0 to win 7-5, 6-2 in the next two sets. Bell won 6-1, 6-2 at #5 singles. Fink won by forfeit at #6. Zeinab Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V./George Washington) lost 6-1, 7-6 at #4 singles.
Randolph hosts its regular season finale on Wednesday against Bridgewater. The match begins at 3:00 p.m.
